Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that highlights many comforts aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
