Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is illegal. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that features a number of luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 tables.
